Legal authorities
advise an MH Equipment Company check has been stolen by an
unknown party and illegally reproduced to write checks to people
as part of a scam. Those involved have been sending counterfeit
MH Equipment Company checks in letters to people using 3
different scenarios. The letter may state that the recipient
has won the Switzerland Lottery and has winnings to collect,
that they have unclaimed prize money from Renmark
Communications, or that the Consumer Credit Center has unclaimed
prize money from a drawing for them. The fraudulent notification
is official looking and includes an official looking check from
MH Equipment Company; however, to collect the rest of their
winnings, the recipient needs to contact the sender and forward
a specified amount of money.
MH Equipment Company is cooperating with authorities to investigate this incident with the hopes of bringing the scammers to justice. Please do not send any money or provide the scammers with any personal or financial information. As the recipient of any such correspondence, call your local legal authorities immediately to report the activity.
