The Rail King RK285 G6 features a powerful Cummins QSB Tier 4(f) engine producing up to 173 bhp with a four-speed automatic transmission. The RK285 G6 is capable of pulling up to 29,000 pounds when one coupler is used or 45,500 pounds when both couplers are used. The engine has fully-integrated EcoFit Ultralow Emission Systems, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, and a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) to achieve near zero emissions. The transmission is a John Deere/Funk DF150 Powershift that has forward, reverse, automatic shift, and an operator-controlled start in second feature. In combination with no-spin differentials, the RK285 G6 leads the way for high efficiency railcar movers.
The easier a railcar is for an operator to use and the more comfortable they are in the cab, the better work they’ll be able to perform. The RK285 is equipped with a 360-degree camera, a full-color LCD display, multicolor LED rocker switch panels, and a canbus electrical system with PLC-based mobile controller. These features allow the operator to monitor the engine, transmission, and operating parameters in real time. Trouble and diagnostic codes can also be easily viewed to help address any maintenance issues as they come up. The Royalglide four-point platform mounting system provides a maintenance-free suspension system that virtually eliminates rail shock and vibration to the cab, reducing operator fatigue.
The Rail King G6 is easy to maintain and service, which lowers the cost of ownership compared to other railcar models. Its simplified hydraulic system features a single-pressure compensated pump and a central manifold for easy service.
