Job Summary: As a Road Service Technician, you’ll work with assigned customers to perform prompt and complete diagnostics, assessments, maintenance, and repairs of industrial equipment at their locations and in the service shop while making every effort to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Technician Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair dock levelers, dock locks, overhead doors, industrial batteries, and other identified allied products.
- Communicate with the customer and provide high level of customer service.
- Perform only those repairs clearly and specifically required by the owner of the product.
- Thoroughly document and assess the condition of the product related to other repairs that are not part of the repair or quote.
- Accurately account for all labor hours.
- Accurately account for all parts used and for van parts inventory.
- Submit complete documentation for all work in a timely manner, as required by management.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tools, van, customer facilities, and shop.
- Keep the service van clean, neat, and well-maintained at all times.
- Maintain company tools in working order and return them to the shop after use.
- Keep up to date with new equipment and advances in diagnostic techniques and repairs.
- Adhere to all Company Policies and Work Rules.
- Make repairs accurately and timely with minimum call-backs or re-works.
- Keep Service Manager advised of job progress, delays, changes, status, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Technician Requirements:
- A technical background is required.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, fuel systems, charging systems are a plus.
- Must have own tools.
- Must have communication skills and be able to complete accurate paperwork.
- Must have computer skills or the aptitude and willingness to learn how to use a computer and software.
- Must have adequate welding and fabrication skills.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of a service technician as outlined in the document “Requirements of a Service Technician”.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must have a good attitude and be able to successfully work in a team environment.
- Steel toed work boots are mandatory.
- Welding experience is mandatory.
- Light construction and concrete experience are a plus.
Working Conditions: Hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
