JOB SUMMARY: The Accounts Receivable Clerk performs collection activity for assigned branches by working closely with customers and sales departments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Code and post deposits daily from lockbox, wired funds, credit card payments, or mailed-in payments.
- Perform weekly adjustments to the customer’s Accounts Receivable accounts that will write off unpaid service charges, tax or freight not paid.
- Contact key customers concerning past due invoices.
- Work with the other divisions’ collection individuals to review and research customer account and payment questions.
- Review existing billing, credit, and collection procedures.
- Prepare daily and weekly past due reports to assess progress of Accounts Receivable collection efforts.
- Set up new accounts as needed.
- Keep customer exemption certificates up to date.
- Load A/R summary and balance A/R each week.
- Mark accounts for statements each month and review statements before they are mailed.
- Send release documents on credit hold to Corporate AR.
- Perform AR reviews.
- Embrace the company culture and initiatives.

- Present a professional image in personal appearance, dress and preparation.
- Other duties and projects as appropriate.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient computer skills or the aptitude and willingness to learn how to use a computer and software.
- Knowledge with or aptitude to use Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with third-party AR systems.
- Accounting knowledge or aptitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Punctuality and dependability.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to multi-task and remain flexible.
- Personable.
- Meet the physical requirements of the job.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
